hairyface 211
i'd go for an hilux mate, and for that money you be able to get an 05 reg with change to insure and tax it, go for the 2.5 td d4d ex version, with pretty low milage(ex version is yer farm type with plastic floors as aposed to the gx or vx which have carpets and wheel arch extensions) plenty of humf, maybe abit lighter on the back end than navaras and l200 but with a good pair of tyres they will get you anywhere, i had a mk4 and it was shit until i put on a set of greenway macho's 30/9.5/15, and it got me about heres a pic the mark5 2,5td d4d is 102hp as aposed to the navara d22(133bhp) navara d40(174bhp) heard to many reports of navaras blowing up at low milage for my cup of tea, in my opinion hiluxs are pretty bomb proof

mwncidur 0
My 2p worth, Land Rover, wether it be a defender or a discovery, will be easy to maintain and parts are readily available, both new and second hand. I have a 200tdi 110 and a 200tdi disco, the defenders have an aquired driving position long distances can be uncomfortable. Disco is much more civilised For your budget I personally would be looking at a Disco TD5 commercial, you will have a heap of change so you can tax (with it being a commercial there is no co2 related tax), insure it and stick some decent tyres on it. Dispite what people say, they are not as unreliable as they make out, Brother in law is on his 5th TD5 now and none of them have ever let him down. his current ride is an 03 defender 110. I would suggest you actually try as many vehicles as you can to see what is right for you. You can also check out brightwells 4x4 auction every tuesday in Leominster, there are some real bargains about Quick ebay search, you get summat like THIS Edited August 24, 2009 by mwncidur
apollo 9
nice and comfy air con when hot heaters when cold, if you put decent off road tyres on they will drag you about.....

alimac 882
hilux all the way just gone from a 54 plate L200 to a 57 plate hilux, very little difference apart from catching the underside in places it never used too, most of the 4x4s will do the job if they have proper tyres, if it was mainly a off road id go for the muds rather than the all terrain, but if your like me and do a fair bit of on road with then they will only last about 20000
